Circulation Desk
The Circulation Desk area (also called the Circ Desk) is located just inside the main library doors. At the desk, patrons can pick up, borrow, and return library materials. It houses the Closed Reserves and Audio Visual materials and serves as a general information desk.
Our Circulation Desk is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable personal who are ready, willing, and able to assist patrons with all their information needs.

Reference Areas
The Marion Campus Library provides a variety of information areas.
The Reference collection includes ready-reference materials, encyclopedias, statistical sources and specialized subject material. These materials are arranged by the Library of Congress classifications and cannot be checked out.
Other areas of reference include map cases, the current periodicals display and our periodical index tables. Atlases are located on both the first and second floors

Collections
The library collection consists of over 52,000 volumes and more than 250 print periodical titles. Books are shelved by the library of congress classification: alphabetically by title. Most books and periodicals can be checked out but circulation periods will vary. The book collection is located on the first floor while the periodical collections are shelved alphabetically by title.
New Books
Audio Visual Collection

A collection of audio visual materials such as videos, slides, filmstrips, CD's, phonograph records and audio tapes is also available. Most cannot be checked out.

Special Collections
The library collection includes many different special collections, geared to specific topic and subjects.
Career Resource Center: consists of general books on making career choices, books on specific occupational fields, job hunting, resume preparation, and interviewing.

George H. Reavis Reading Area: a collection of fast back pamphlets published by Phi Delta Kappa, in the field of education in located in stack 8.
Casual Reading: Available in book stack row eight. Nonacademic collection of mostly paperbacks and is primarily for recreational reading. They are not listed in the online catalog but can be read in the library or checked out for three weeks.
Pamphlet Files: located along the west wall, they are organized in subject folders and provides current and quick information on a variety of topics. These can be checked out for three days.

Services
The Library provides a variety of supplemental services to assist patrons in their information needs.
Research workstations - patrons can access online catalogs, electronic databases as well at the Internet from eight workstations located along the west wall and five more on the second floor.
Word processing workstations - allow students to have access to typing, power point, and excel. They do not have Internet access. They are available on a first come basis.
A microfilm/microfiche reader/printer is available to view microfilm. Prints of the viewed film can be made directly from the machine.

A copier room houses two copiers. Copies cost $0.10 per page. Ask library staff for assistance in using these machines.

The library provides information areas for campus and community events/activities, as well as general information bulletin boards.

Study Areas
The library strives to provide patrons with a variety of quiet study areas including tables, lighted carrels, casual seating areas, and two discussion rooms for group study. These study areas are located throughout the library on both floors.

Special Collections
Newspapers: A small collection of local, national and international titles. Latest issues are shelved on the current periodical display at the beginning. These do not circulate.
Law: located on the second floor next to the newspapers, includes a variety of titles: Some are no longer being updated however, many other law resources are available electronically.
Virginia Garibaldi Allen Children's Literature Collection: shelved in book stack 66, this collection includes award-winning titles and books for pre-kindergarten thru eighth grade.

Harding/Thomas Room
This is a collection of materials on two prominent Marionites, Warren G. Harding and Norman M Thomas, and the period of history in which they were significant. Materials include books, articles, recordings, pictures, written correspondences, and other memorabilia. These materials are restricted and non-circulating. Please ask library staff to access this collection.
